Common questions
Short answers. If you need a person, text 270-533-7786 (270-KEEP-SUM).
- Who is the owner?
- The owner is the person who runs the household in KeepSum. They add family and friends, and they approve items. If you text a photo to try a sample, you are the owner of that sample house.
- How does family get a turn?
- The owner adds people on the People page with a phone number. When it is someone’s turn, KeepSum texts them a link. They do not need an account.
- How long do I have to claim something?
- 24 hours. If you have not claimed or passed, we text you at 6 hours and again with 1 hour left. If you pass or the time runs out, the next person in line is texted.
- What if two people want the same thing?
- Only one person has a turn at a time. Immediate family goes first, then extended family, then friends, each group in a random, fair order. The person who claims during their turn gets it.
- How do owners accept a claim?
- We text a link when someone offers. Open it to accept or reject, or reply ACCEPT to take it. We’ll remind you once a day until you decide. The offer does not expire on its own.
- Is a sample the same as a real house?
- No. A sample is one item, a practice family, and optionally one real relative so a claim text feels real. Practice people cannot receive texts. A real house is your people and your things. After the sample, you can join the waitlist.
- How long does something stay in the shop?
- Seven days. People can bid while that clock is running. After that, the owner picks a bid or sells it somewhere else.
- Is the value an appraisal?
- No. KeepSum estimates a used-market range from the photo so family has a starting point. It is not an appraisal, and it is not a guarantee of what something will sell for.
- What does it cost?
- Free to try a sample. No charge while we’re testing with households.
- What happens to my photos?
- We use them to identify the item and make the listing. They stay with your household. We do not sell them. See the Privacy page for more.
